A superconcentrated ether electrolyte for fast-charging Li-ion batteries.
We have found ultrafast Li(+) intercalation into graphite in a superconcentrated ether electrolyte, even exceeding that in a currently used commercial electrolyte. This discovery is an important breakthrough toward fast-charging Li-ion batteries far beyond present technologies.

DOI: 10.1002/aenm.201600922 considering the overpotential during charge process. Recently, Yamada et al. reported that LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 can only reversibly provide capacity of ≈75 mA h g−1 in the more concentrated hydrate melt electrolytes (≈30 mol kg−1), which is 50% of theoretical capacity.[14] The oxygen evolution side reaction also largely significantly reduce the coulombic efficiency. In add...
متن کاملVoltage increase of aqueous lithium-ion batteries by Li-ion conducting Li1.5Al0.5Ge1.5(PO4)3 glass-ceramic
In this research, a lithium ion conducting lithium aluminum germanium phosphate (LAGP) glass-ceramic with a formula of Li1.5Al0.5Ge1.5(PO4)3 was synthesized by melt-quenching method and subsequent crystallization at 850 °C for 8 h. The prepared glass-ceramic was characterized using X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The XRD patterns exhib...
متن کاملHigh performance silicon nanoparticle anode in fluoroethylene carbonate-based electrolyte for Li-ion batteries.
Electrodes composed of silicon nanoparticles (SiNP) were prepared by slurry casting and then electrochemically tested in a fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC)-based electrolyte. The capacity retention after cycling was significantly improved compared to electrodes cycled in a traditional ethylene carbonate (EC)-based electrolyte.
متن کاملHybrid tin oxide nanowires as stable and high capacity anodes for Li-ion batteries.
In this report, we present a simple and generic concept involving metal nanoclusters supported on metal oxide nanowires as stable and high capacity anode materials for Li-ion batteries. Specifically, SnO(2) nanowires covered with Sn nanoclusters exhibited an exceptional capacity of >800 mAhg(-1) over hundred cycles with a low capacity fading of less than 1% per cycle. Post lithiation analyses a...
